What the numbers say

  • Direct food imports from Indonesia are still small: the largest line, cashews and coconuts, was €8.6 million in 2025.
  • Palm oil grew from €0.1 million in 2021 to €2.8 million in 2025; cocoa butter appeared in 2023 and reached €1.8 million in 2024.
  • Shrimp and other crustaceans grew every year, from €0.14 million to €0.78 million.
  • These figures count only goods cleared through customs in Poland. Indonesian food cleared in Rotterdam or Hamburg and resold to Poland is counted as Dutch or German trade, so Polish buyers use more than the numbers show, mostly through other EU importers.
  • The EU–Indonesia trade agreement (CEPA) is expected to enter into force on 1 January 2027, with lower EU duties on many food products.

Trade: Eurostat Comext, dataset DS-045409 (EU trade since 1988 by HS2-4-6 and CN8), Poland as reporter, imports, value in euros, annual. Country = country of origin. Retrieved 2026-10-27. Eurostat database. Goods cleared through customs in another EU country and then shipped to Poland count as that country’s trade, so real use in Poland is higher. Change compares 2025 with the first year above €100,000.
Border alerts: RASFF Window (European Commission), food notifications by country of origin, compiled by RASFF Trends (rasff.fruit-risk.com), licence CC BY 4.0. Retrieved 2026-10-27. RASFF Trends. Counts depend on how actively each EU country checks, so read them next to trade volumes.
