What Poland buys from Thailand
Official EU customs statistics, put in one table: which food products from Thailand Polish importers already buy, how much, and what is growing. Updated when Eurostat publishes new data.
What the numbers say
- The largest food line is prepared fruit and nuts (HS 2008, which includes canned pineapple): €16.0 million in 2025, close to the 2022 peak after two weaker years.
- Sauces and seasonings reached €5.7 million in 2025. Rice more than doubled, from €2.3 million in 2021 to €5.1 million.
- Direct food imports from Thailand are modest. Thai food cleared in Rotterdam or Hamburg and resold to Poland counts as Dutch or German trade, so Polish shelves carry more than these numbers show.
- The EU and Thailand are negotiating a trade agreement; Thailand aims to finish the talks by the end of 2026. Until then the standard EU duties apply.

What this means for your shipment
Most alerts are pesticide residues on fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs, and Salmonella in poultry. Test fresh produce against EU maximum residue limits before shipping, and check that the buyer’s documents match the additives on your label.
Trade: Eurostat Comext, dataset DS-045409 (EU trade since 1988 by HS2-4-6 and CN8), Poland as reporter, imports, value in euros, annual. Country = country of origin. Retrieved 2026-10-27. Eurostat database. Goods cleared through customs in another EU country and then shipped to Poland count as that country’s trade, so real use in Poland is higher. Change compares 2025 with the first year above €100,000.
Border alerts: RASFF Window (European Commission), food notifications by country of origin, compiled by RASFF Trends (rasff.fruit-risk.com), licence CC BY 4.0. Retrieved 2026-10-27. RASFF Trends. Counts depend on how actively each EU country checks, so read them next to trade volumes.
